Review by DONHOLMES, March, 2010
Let me preface this report by saying that I'm unabashadley and unapologetically biased when it comes to talking about Ginger because I am her biggest fan! I've seen her several times over the years during her touring days - although never in an intimate way - and she has always been, without question, one of the classiest, sweetest, kindest and most down-to-earth people that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I would also go so far as to dare say that we've actually become friends. That said, I will proceed to give you a completely objective and honest review of my experience with this wonderful woman. As a frequent reader of this board, I try to keep up on who may be coming to my area. In these economically challenging times, SP's who visit the Detroit area are rare indeed! Imagine my surprise and my excitement when, while browsing TER one day a few weeks back, I noticed that the legend herself had posted saying that she would be visiting the Chicago area! I became immediately aroused at the thought of having the chance to live out my ultimate fantasy! I didn't care if I had to beg, borrow or steal - I was going to do whatever it took to make this happen!!!!! I took a few minutes to calm down and compose myself and then proceeded to send her an EM at the address she provided. I hadn't seen her since she stopped touring as a club feature back in 2001 or so, so I didn't know if she would even remember me. She responded the next day, and to my astonishment, she did!!!! Over the next few days, we corresponded regularly as we planned the details of our rendevous. In one of her email responses, she gave me her phone number and invited me to call her so we could get reacquainted...an invitation I readily accepted! In the days leading up to our appointment, we talked on the phone several times. Hearing the sound of her sweet voice was like listening to a favorite song that you never get tired of; each time you hear it is like the first time all over again!!! Once the date was set, I began to count the minutes until our meeting. As Tom Petty once sang "...the waiting was the hardest part!" After two weeks had gone by, finally the day that I had always dreamed about was here! I woke up early that morning and began the over four hour drive to Chicago from Detroit - breaking many land speed records along the way I'm sure. Not wanting to be late, I made sure I left very early to avoid any potential traffic jams or mishaps I might've encountered, but in my haste to overcompensate I completely forgot about the time difference and that Chicago was an hour behind. We had arranged for a 2:30 meeting at her hotel near the airport, but when I arrived it was only 11:00 am Chicago time! Feeling like an idiot, I called Ginger to let her know that I was early and asked her if she would consider moving up our appointment. She couldn't have been more gracious, patient and understanding!!! We had a good laugh about the situation and, after rescheduling her massage session, she agreed to meet me at 1:00...asking that I call first once I arrived back at the hotel to make sure she was ready. After driving around for a while, I decided to stop and have some breakfast and also to pick up a gift for her as a small token to show my appreciation. After what seemed like an eternity, 1:00 was fast approaching and I finally made my way back to the hotel. I called her and she was very anxious to see me. During one of our phone conversations, Ginger asked me to let her know if I had a specific outfit that I wanted her to wear for our visit. I searched the web for some pictures of her to get some ideas. I came across a couple of my favorite box cover photos of her from some of her movies and emailed them to her - although in all honesty, I wouldn't have cared if she showed up in a burlap sack or in sweats, but nothing could have prepared me for what happened next...
