An academic conference brought me to Santa Fe, but at the opening wine-and-cheese reception, the smalltalk was boring me silly. Even when PhDs are boozed up, it seems all we can talk about are the latest algorithms and research papers. I needed a distraction.
Destiny, a top-rated companion in Albuquerque, was only an hour away by rental car, so I decided to make the trip down south to see her. I got in touch by email, and after some back-and-forth, we settled on a 3-hour evening appointment at her incall location.
Pulling into the hotel about 15 minutes early, I found a spot, leaned the seat back as far as it would go, and waited, wondering what kind of adventure the moonless night would bring. Just minutes before the appointed time, the sound of high heels clicking against concrete pierced the silence. I adjusted my rear-view mirror and glimpsed a tall, raven-haired young lady striding with a determined gait across the parking lot. A carry-on bag rolled swiftly behind her.
"A flight attendant," I thought. "She must have just ended her shift." Indeed, the woman's form-fitting beige dress resembled some kind of uniform, stopping at just the right point on the thigh to be revealing yet businesslike. "Too bad I'm not seeing her tonight. She looks fantastic."
Putting aside my mile-high fantasies for the moment, I decided it was finally time to meet Destiny. I gave her a call, got the room number, and rode the elevator upstairs. Taking one last deep breath, I knocked on the door, and when it opened... Lava began flowing through my veins. That beige dress! My "flight attendant" was in fact Destiny. She had checked into the room just moments before I called.
We greeted, and I handed her the small gift I had brought -- some fancy body cream I picked up at a Santa Fe spa. We sat down to exchange pleasantries, and I learned that she was of course no flight attendant but did work part-time as a model, which explained the elegance with which she walked. Her form had even graced the cover of a romance novel.
It wasn't long before Destiny suggested we relocate to the bed, and naturally I agreed. I tried to pick up the conversation but stopped mid-sentence when I suddenly felt Destiny's lips on my earlobe. "You move fast!" I said, trembling from her touch.
"I thought this would make you more comfortable," she replied. "You seem nervous. Like you were trying to avoid me."
I suppose I was. I had no idea I would be meeting an almost-famous model this evening. But with the ice now broken, I started up some music from the portable speakers I had brought. "Let's dance," I said, and we stood up into an embrace. As we swayed in each other's arms, I whispered, "I want to make you feel good."
Her hazel eyes softened. "This already feels good," she whispered back. "But I can make it better." Her hands moved slowly toward the nape of her neck. The beige dress was about to come off.
