What makes Anya unique to me?
There’s that Hollywood Story (or maybe it’s an urban myth) about Laurence Olivier & Dustin Hoffman during the filming of that terrifying Dentist Scene in “Marathon Man”.
The stunning Olivier was effortlessly portraying the nuances of evil. He had an amazing body of experience & any audience was utterly captivated and in awe of him. He was what they call a “technical actor” and the general theory behind that is to simply execute the physical and vocal techniques that will trigger the desired emotional response in the audience.
Hoffman, on the opposite end of the spectrum, was practicing what they refer to as “Method Acting”. Recreating terrifying experiences from his past & attempting to achieve ACTUAL terror for the camera, thereby creating the audience’s emotional response.
In the Acting World, particularly the theater, you attempt to ride down the middle of those two extremes.
But Hoffman was torturing himself between takes to achieve terror, while Olivier was relaxed & chatting with the crew. Olivier’s famous advice to Hoffman when he saw all his turmoil? “ACT, my dear boy! Act!”
In other words, why pull out your fingernails in order to achieve something that can be obtained quite superbly with simple external skills?
There are detractors and benefactors with both schools and obviously these two performers are both exceptionally effective…
You’ve got to face it sooner or later: This hobby has remarkable similarities to the theater experience and I have met one of the “old school” artists, my friends, and her name is Anya. What we have in this exquisite beauty is one hell of a Lawrence Olivier!
Beauty wise? She’s a babe. Her face resembles a mature Drew Barrymore with a Gwen Stefani/Old Hollywood cosmetics style all outfitted in a Marilyn Monroe outfit, replete with Opera Coat, Vintage Dress, Garter Belts, Bustier, Fishnets, jeweled shoes, and multi-layered undies with all the attachments, straps & bells & whistles. You want her to dress down you’d better pipe up!
Physical Technique? Absolutely definitive prowess & drop dead perfect execution of the simple skills that stack nuance upon nuance to make you blow the biggest—
