I booked her for dinner and drinks, nothing else on the card. She showed up on time, black coat, high collar, silver rings, eyeliner that looked deliberate rather than costume. First impression was that she had actually read the notes. She didn’t perform “goth” at me. She just was. Conversation stayed easy. We got through the usual opener in about five minutes, then a song came on and it turned out we actually liked the same records—not the singles, the deep cuts. She knew the B-sides. I knew the lineup changes. She didn’t fake interest to keep the hour moving, and she didn’t act bored when I talked too long about one album. That part felt rare.
