SCAM ALERT!!! Contacted via WhatsApp. No screening, no mention of date or time, just a request for a deposit. I'm not used to ApplePay or Venmo, so I sent a test amount to make sure she received it. Then she asked for a screenshot of the payment. ApplePay wouldn't let me make another payment due to suspected scam activity, that address is now invalid. She said "try venmo." Again, I sent a test $10, she asked for a screenshot. I googled "why do scammers request a screenshot" so when I sent the screenshot, I cropped out any identifying info, other than her venmo address and the amount. Venmo wouldn't process another payment. I asked if I could just pay the following day (the total amount, the day of the appointment.) We texted today (WhatsApp) and she sent a different venmo address, I said I thought I was paying cash at the appointment. She reiterated the need for a deposit. I figured best case scenario, she's a scammer, I'm out $20. If she's legit and this is a silly misunderstanding, it wouldn't make for a good appointment. Her ApplePay address no longer exists, she's deleted the texts from her first Venmo requests and the screenshot. And now she's a ghost!
