I arrived on time at her hotel, but Fiona didn’t answer her phone, or respond to texts or emails for almost half an hour. I told myself, one more minute, and then she texted me. She was just coming out of the shower, she said, and needed a bit more time. After 5 minutes she texted the room number and I went up. The door was open. She was still in the bathroom getting herself ready. We talked through the door for maybe 10 more minutes. Finally, she came out to sit with me on the bed. We talked a bit more, and then, finally, I asked if I could kiss her, and she said yes.
