I met Alyx during one of her visits to Chicago and arranged a dinner date for the first night I was in town. She planned to take a cab over to my hotel as we decided to dine at the hotel's restaurant because of the snow and cold. As the time neared for her arrival, she called and said she could not get a cab at her hotel and she had been walking to my hotel. I told her to stop immediately and find a warm spot inside one of the retail stores....and I would get one of the hotel's cars and drivers to take me to pick her up. So off the driver and I went to pick up Alyx which was made just a tad complicated as she initially gave me the wrong street corner and store. She and I were on the phone the entire time as I gave the driver new directions, and then we finally found her. The driver must have had some great stories to share especially as she and I had not met before. But we became instant good friends, and the drive back to my hotel was filled with laughs and her saying how she was going to reward me for saving her. Little did I know what she had in mind. Whoa.
